Paris a city that makes you fall in love, where every corner tells a story and getting lost means finding my way back again.

Filled with art, design, and beauty, it and the country around it has been part of my life for so many years. My great grandfather studied here, and sometimes I feel as though I’m retracing his footsteps. At other times, I come across photographs of my mother in the Luxembourg Gardens, and somehow, I find my way back to that same place.

Full of questions, Paris challenges me to learn French and invites me to discover more of its secrets.
I love you, even when you’re a little chaotic and strange. Wandering through your streets, stepping into your museums, and spending hours immersed in the beauty created by human hands standing before masterpieces and simply taking them in fills me with joy.

You inspire me more than I can say!

It was a beautiful experience to be surrounded by such inspiring artists, all working with the same material that comes from the Earth’s crust, yet each transforming it through completely different visions, languages, and imagination.

I am deeply grateful to Francesco Pirrello for creating a space where art can cross borders and connect countries, cultures, and people. No borders, no limits, just the freedom to imagine, create, and share. Merci!

Being part of this exhibition was truly an honour. Paris feels like a natural home for art, it’s a city that inspires, where every street, every building, and every corner seems to carry a story.

I am also incredibly happy that people connected with my work and that some of my pieces found new homes. To me, that is one of the most meaningful achievements an artist can experience: knowing that something you created has touched someone else.

Through my work, I hope to speak about the fragility and beauty of nature. I invite people to slow down, to look a little closer, and to appreciate the extraordinary beauty that surrounds us every day. Sometimes, it begins with something as delicate and simple as a small leaf.

And perhaps that is where the magic of One Thousand Vases lies, with the many ways we can see, feel, and interpret the same world. 🌿

Gravity

This work emerged from a desire to challenge the material itself. Porcelain takes on a rhetorical role in my life a way of reflecting on what we try to hold, what we are capable of holding, and what, sometimes, simply cannot be sustained.

Gravity speaks both to the physical weight of an object and to the gravity of the situations we carry in our lives. It is about the tension between holding on and letting go, and about the impossibility of sustaining certain things, no matter how much we want to.

For this work, I wanted to bring together my leaves, inspired by and collected from the páramo landscapes of Colombia, with the history of Delft and traditional porcelain. I have always been fascinated by antique porcelain, and I wanted to create a dialogue between the contemporary and the historical, between organic forms and the visual language of the past.

I come from a family that deeply appreciated the beauty of porcelain. My great grandfather loved porcelain, and my mother collected pieces from different places and different makers. These objects were part of my childhood. I grew up surrounded by porcelain, observing its patterns, intricate graphics, and extraordinary details.

In this work, I wanted to bring all of these influences together: geometric and organic forms, past and present, fragility and strength. I also wanted to challenge the volume, balance, and physical limitations of porcelain to push the material and explore its relationship with gravity.

Through this piece, porcelain becomes more than a material. It becomes a metaphor for the things we carry, the things we try to hold together, and the delicate balance between what can be sustained and what eventually has to fall.

I am so pleased that it recently found a new home during @1000vases

For the first time, I decided to set precious stones in my porcelain work. The diamonds of Resilience remind me of the myriad droplets of water on the frailejones (espeletia plant) in the páramos surrounding the Laguna de la Cocha, Colombia where I collect leaves for my porcelain work. These are tiny and easy to miss, but together they merge in the mighty Amazon river and flow to the Atlantic over more than 4,000 km. All of them infinitely fragile, but also infinitely resilient in the face of constant encroachments and an endless source of inspiration if you stop for a second to admire them.

I am so glad that it found a new home in Paris yesterday!! Merci @1000vases ✨ @parisdesignweek
